I’ve made my own iced green tea latte the day before yesterday, and it was fun. The idea was to make it healthy and delicious. I wanted to make it with real matcha, so I tried two different brands.
First up was the left one, Makotoen. On the front, it said the ingredients were green tea and matcha, so I guess it’s a mix. On the back, it said, in Thai, green tea, and nothing else. So, yeah. I had to put the tea in hot water, stir it, wait a moment, and get the tea out again. It was a little bit of work, but that’s OK. Sadly, the colour wasn’t right, and the taste was a bit off. It didn’t feel like the kind of tea I should use, in my opinion.
So, I tried the right one, Ito En, and it was just perfect. Great colour, and it’s powder so you can scoop it right in. You don’t have to worry about anything. Later, I saw that it was instant tea, which makes sense. On the back, it said 65% matcha, and some other ingredients. It will probably have additives as well, but that’s fine. I didn’t really have another choice anyway. You can find this tea at the import section of the Big C, and at MaxValu in Gateway Ekamai, where they have the normal green tea as well.
I’ve had some help getting started. Thanks, Lin! My recipe is very light and easy to make. You just need 0.7 cups of hot water, add 2 teaspoons of Ito En tea, matcha or normal green tea, and stir it until it’s completely dissolved. Then, add 0.3 cups of 0% milk, and 2 teaspoons of honey. Stir it, get some ice, and done!
I’ve only made matcha tea the first time. The iced matcha green tea latte tastes a bit light, but in a good way, and you can really taste all the ingredients. I’m quite happy with it. Next time, I will try the normal green tea, and add one more teaspoon of honey, just to see how it is.

I’ve tried the normal green tea. The package actually says instant roasted green tea. Maybe the roasting gives it a slightly different taste. Anyway, it was good, but to me, it was just like normal tea. I’ve also tried 3 teaspoons of honey. It makes it a bit sweeter, maybe up to a point where it’s becoming a bit overwhelming.
